Our Indigenous Services Program provides supports in a plethora of different ways. Our main function is to support First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and self-identified Indigenous peoples with cultural supports and programming, mental health and addictions supports, and financial supports (if eligible). Some of the programs and events that have been offered include Men’s Drumming, Indigenous Women’s Healing Circle, and 1-on-1 support programs.
Along with our Indigenous Services Program, Durham Community Health Center offers Indigenous programming throughout the year, like Indigenous Wellbeing Night (formerly Indigenous Family Night), our quarterly Big Drum Socials, MMWIP gatherings, Sunrise and Full Moon Ceremonies and Orange Shirt Day gatherings. Currently, most of our programs are on hold for the summer but will be returning in mid September.
Clients who are interested in accessing services through our Indigenous Services Program will need to complete a client intake package with our admin and program support, Joseph Charbonneau.
To reach out Joseph and schedule an intake appointment, please contact him at jcharbonneau@durhamchc.ca or 905-723-0036 ext. 1074. If you have any questions or require further information regarding the services at Durham Community Health Center, you can also reach out to Joseph for any further clarification!
