Call for Proposals: Health Canada Emergency Treatment Fund
Health Canada has announced a new Emergency Treatment Fund (EFT) that will provide $150 million over 3 years for municipalities, Indigenous communities, and Indigenous not-for-profit organizations to help provide rapid responses to emergent, critical needs related to the substance use and overdose crisis: https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/substance-use/emergency-treatment-fund-2024.html
The maximum funding allowed per recipient is $2 million per fiscal year.
Call for Proposals 2024 will begin on October 11, 2024 and remain open until 2:00 p.m. EST on November 8, 2024. Funding can be provided for a range of activities that may include, but is not limited to:
Harm reduction and overdose prevention supports, including training, drug checking and naloxone distribution
Cultural and community programing (for example, on-the-land healing)
Certain capital costs (for example, the purchase of vehicles and building upgrades)
Outreach activities, including support for mobile response teams, crisis counsellors, knowledge keepers or other Indigenous professionals
Recovery support
